I drive a shuttle bus (15-passenger van) that serves
the Santa Clara Amtrak and ACE station. Overall,
my impression is that ACE has a better on-time
arrival record than the Capitol Corridor Amtrak train.
If the CC arrives within 30 minutes after its scheduled
arrival time, it is doing well.

Yeah, CC has had reliability issues. Because it goes through several metro areas over busy freight tracks with limited capacity, and because Union Pacific has had messed up dispatching for quite some time... including poor timing with a drawbridge by Sacramento, multiple "slow orders", repairs, etc. The record does seem to be much better lately.

It's usually not too late. The food is really hurtin' though. I take it a couple of times a year and wind up going for the chips, cokes and candy bars. Those horrid frozen pizza and other microwaved foods get get pretty gnarly.
